Strong winds to hit North Shore tomorrow

February 12, 2023 6:41pm

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for North Shore. Strong winds that may cause damage are expected from Monday afternoon to evening.

Northwest winds at 70 km/h gusting to 90 km/h are expected, from late Monday afternoon into the evening hours. Winds will ease Monday night. Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.

High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

Snowfall warning is also in effect for Coquihalla Highway, from Hope to Merritt. Periods of heavy snow are expected, from this evening to Monday night. Total snowfall accumulations of 20 to 25 cms are to be expected.
