Surrey shooting: One man taken to hospital in serious condition

February 2, 2024 3:19pm

Surrey RCMP officers are investigating a shooting that sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.

The incident unfolded at approximately 1:33 p.m. in the 8400 block of 120 Street, where officers discovered a male victim with gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.

Later, around 2:07 p.m., Surrey RCMP was alerted to a vehicle fire in the 9900 block of 179 Street. Investigators are probing any potential connections between the two incidents.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, road closures have been implemented, affecting northbound traffic from 84 Avenue to 82 Avenue and eastbound traffic from 120 Street to 122 Street. Commuters are urged to seek alternate routes to mitigate traffic congestion.

Surrey RCMP is also investigating another shooting that took place in South Surrey. The incident, which unfolded on February 1, 2024, around 1:21 a.m., was reported at a residence in the 2800 block of 154 Street. No injuries were reported. Police didn’t name the homeowner, but he was identified as Simranjit Singh.

Police continue to examine the scene, interview witnesses, and scour the neighbourhood for potential surveillance footage. Surrey RCMP urges anyone with pertinent information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
