Suspect arrested after assault in Ambleside

West Vancouver Police responded to multiple crimes, including assaults, break-and-enters, and thefts, during the first two weeks of February. The criminal incidents occurred across various neighbourhoods, with several suspects identified and arrested.

Assaults and Threats

In the Ambleside/John Lawson Park area, a verbal dispute escalated when a suspect punched a victim through the open window of a vehicle before fleeing. Police later identified and arrested the suspect in North Vancouver.

Meanwhile, in the Marine Drive and Taylor Way area, a suspect brandished bear spray and threatened another individual. Officers located and arrested the suspect, seizing bear spray and a replica firearm. The suspect was held for court, with charges recommended.

In Dundarave, police responded to reports of two males checking cars and storage areas. Officers located the individuals and arrested one for an outstanding warrant and breach of release conditions related to possession of break-in tools.

In a separate incident in Horseshoe Bay, suspects paid for food at a restaurant using counterfeit cash.

Break-and-Enters

Several break-ins were reported across West Vancouver, targeting residential homes and multi-unit buildings.

  • In the Cypress Road area, suspects forced entry into a multi-unit residential garage, targeting several storage units.
  • In the Ambleside/Queens area, suspects entered an unsecured garage and stole ski equipment and personal items from unlocked vehicles. The stolen items were later recovered, and suspects were identified during a separate suspicious persons report.
  • A similar incident occurred in Dundarave/Nelson Avenue, where suspects used a ladder to access an upper-floor sliding glass door while residents were away. No alarm was triggered.
  • In the Taylor Way/Marine Drive area, a storage room in a multi-unit building was forcibly entered.
  • In Ambleside, a resident reported hearing glass break in a neighboring suite. Police confirmed a break-in, but the suspects had fled by the time officers arrived.
  • In another Ambleside case, suspects broke into storage lockers, mailboxes, and a laundry room in a multi-unit residential building. Cash and other items were stolen, with police suspecting the suspects gained entry through a propped-open side door.
  • In Caulfeild, a residential construction site was targeted when suspects forced entry through a basement door, stealing tools and equipment.
  • In the Gleneagles/Horseshoe Bay area, a vehicle at a trailhead parking lot had its window  smashed in an apparent theft attempt, though nothing was reported stolen.

It’s a simple synopsis. You really mad about nothing and you didn’t have to click, nor read the article. So negative, go outside or something.

Sorry, reporting facts is not fear mongering. If you are the thief and you are reading that most thieves are captured then I guess you have something to fear. Sorry for you!!

Many residents are very interested to know about criminal activity in their neighbourhood. This isn’t “fear mongering”, it’s an important public service letting people know what’s going on so we can be vigilant and pro-active (lock doors and windows, don’t leave valuables visible in cars, keep an eye on you neighbours place while they’re away, etc.) “Intelligent human”?? I can’t help but think your comment comes from an AI bot.
