Two tourists who stranded in a snowstorm were safely rescued by some hikers and North Shore Rescue crews yesterday. The tourists, who were Mexico and Colombia, had to spend the night near Norvan Falls at Lynn Headwater Regional park.

In a social media post, North Shore Rescue said they were called out early afternoon for a rescue after a hiker reported two people  screaming for “help”.  The hiker was able to locate the two and bring them back to the trail.

Hikers provided food and fluids and warm clothing to both and started a slow walk out where they were met by North Shore Rescue crews. NSR says the two had set off for Norvan Falls yesterday afternoon but got lost on their way back to the trail in the dark. They planned to reach the trailhead by following the creek, but had to spend the night in heavy snow.

“An extra special thanks goes out to the hiker who heard their cries for help and not only called for aid but also was able to locate them and bring them to the trail, and for everyone else on the trail this afternoon who stopped to assist with food/water, warm clothing, etc,” NSR said.

Both were quite unprepared for their trip, Don Jardine, a NSR crew told local media.
