Townhome proposal for West Vancouver

Staff report
June 25, 2021 2:00am

District of West Vancouver has received a preliminary development application for a proposed three-storey, 12-unit townhouse development at 4310 Marine Drive.

Before applying for a rezoning, the applicant is conducting a preliminary public information meeting on July 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in an online meeting format on the applicant’s website.

However, this is not a district-led public consultation. It is being hosted by the applicant.

District of West Vancouver is considering the proposal under its OCP, which aims to increase missing middle housing options with ground-oriented multi-family on appropriate sites along the Marine Drive Transit Corridor.

The applicant has yet to submit a formal rezoning proposal.

Once submitted as a formal rezoning, the district will process the application, followed by a public engagement.

According to the proponents, KMD and F. Adab Architects Inc, these homes will meet the needs of a greater range of family incomes, empty nesters, young families and West Vancouver business professionals.

Just leave West Vancouver the way it is and was. All these developments are ruining the residential areas of West Vancouver and reducing its natural environment. What we are going to end up with is a disappointing West Vancouver that is NOT special. It will be just like any other overdeveloped place – UGLY. These developers are NOT serving the community. They are serving themselves.

I am so looking forward to hearing more and supporting this application. I live in the area and it will be fantastic to have some local amenities further supported with a gentle densification.
