An overnight closure of Highway 1 east of Lynn Valley Road is planned for Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, as the City of North Vancouver carries out work on the Casano-Loutet pedestrian structure.
In a press release, B.C. Government said the closure is required to install the main span of the pedestrian structure over Highway 1. The highway will be fully closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured via Lonsdale Avenue, while westbound traffic will be routed along Main Street. Another detour will also be available through North Vancouver using Lonsdale Avenue, Esplanade Avenue, Low Level Road, and Main Street.

Due to height restrictions for westbound traffic under Highway 1 on Main Street, over-height vehicles will be directed to Mountain Highway. A checkpoint will be set up at the north end of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge, where personnel will advise drivers of over-height vehicles to use Mountain Highway.
During the closure, drivers are being reminded to slow down, follow posted signs, and obey traffic-control personnel. The press release also said drivers should allow additional travel time while the overnight closure is in effect.
