A routine traffic stop in North Vancouver quickly escalated into a costly lesson for one driver last week.
An officer recently stopped a driver at Forbes Ave and 1st St for ignoring the no-left-turn sign. What seemed like a minor traffic violation turned into much more. The driver had no licence, no insurance for a year, and no front plate.

Police say an officer pulled over a vehicle at Forbes Avenue and 1st Street after the driver ignored a no-left-turn sign. What began as a minor traffic violation revealed a series of serious infractions.
The driver was found to be operating without a valid licence and had been uninsured for a year. The vehicle also had no front licence plate.
In total, the driver was issued $1,104 in fines and faced additional tow fees.
Police noted that had the driver been involved in a collision while unlicensed and uninsured, the financial and legal consequences could have been life-altering.
