TransLink is running buses with snow socks in Burnaby and North Vancouver routes. Snow socks are a Kevlar-based blanket device that are mounted over tires during a snow event.
The snow socks help the drivers better manoeuvre the bus over hills or when they are driving out of the bus stops.
Despite these precautionary measures, TransLink says there will be route cancellations and delays and is advising customers to check TransLink alerts and its Twitter pages for latest information.
TransLink says the snowfall storm will not impact SeaBus service, but delays and reductions in train frequencies due to switch and door issues caused by the freezing temperatures can be expected.
Trains are also moving at a slower speed, the agency said.
HandyDART is also currently running on essential service levels, meaning all trips other than those deemed essential will be rescheduled.
Customers requiring rides home will be picked up as soon as possible.

Staff and Transit Police are also on site to assist customers at our stations and exchanges.
