Travel advisory is in effect between Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal and Cassiar Tunnel for 25.9 km, from Vancouver to West Vancouver.  Expect extreme water pooling due to heavy rainfall, melting snow, and ice-clogged drains. Travelers are advised to reduce speed and use caution.

Meanwhile, rainfall warning has been issued for Metro Vancouver with rainfall accumulations of 25 to 50 mm, except 60 to 90 mm near the North Shore Mountains.  There is a threat of slippery surfaces before the ice and snow melt completely, and ice falling from infrastructure and trees may give rise to injuries and damages.

“A moist Pacific system will bring heavy rain and a warmer airmass to the B.C. south coast today. Heavy rain is forecast to taper to a few showers by late this afternoon or early evening as the system moves out of the region,” notes Environment Canada.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

“We strongly recommend people to stay home and not drive any other part of the highway unless absolutely essential,” says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP. “Even responders have had challenges driving the highway and accessing collision scenes due to highway conditions, weather, and visibility.”

It would be so much easier to travel on the roads if 🚘 vehicles were properly equipped with snow tires ,also the number of cars and trucks with a foot of snow on top of the roof of their vehicle ,how about brushing that off and clearing the frost before you drive giving you better vision, it could cause an accident
