A longtime North Vancouver community organizer who previously ran for a council seat in 2022 announced his bid or District of North Vancouver Council in the October 2026 municipal election.
Trey Bell announced his candidacy for the upcoming municipal election, saying the narrow 2022 margin drove him to get back in the race sooner.
According to a press release, Bell’s platform is built around what he calls a “livability lens,” with commitments to protect forests and green spaces, support local non-profits, address traffic and transportation, and hold municipal tax increases to under two percent annually.
Bell has spent the intervening years gathering input from non-profit leaders, Indigenous leaders, small business owners, community associations, and residents. He currently sits on the District’s Community Services Advisory Committee, which reviews non-profit grant applications, and serves as founder and co-president of the Lower Lynn Community Association. He also logged six years on the Parkgate Society Board of Directors, including a term as president, and is presently Program Director at an Indigenous non-profit in New Westminster.

A lifelong North Shore resident who grew up in Edgemont, Bell holds a BA in Political Science from Acadia University and an Associate Certificate in Public Relations from BCIT.
The press release noted that Bell intends to run a constructive campaign. “This campaign won’t be about tearing people down — it will be about building community up,” he said, adding that he wants local government to be “approachable, collaborative, and grounded in real community experience.” Bell plans to communicate primarily through his website and social media.
