Two hospitalized after Coquitlam shooting incident

staff report
February 12, 2024 2:45pm

Coquitlam RCMP is investigating a shooting incident that occurred overnight, resulting in two people being sent to hospital.

The incident occurred around 11:56 pm on February 11, 2024, when Coquitlam RCMP received reports of a shooting in a parking lot adjacent to Barnet Highway and Pinetree Way in Coquitlam.

Responding swiftly, law enforcement officers found a vehicle at the scene with two occupants – an adult female and an adult male – both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

As the investigation enters its preliminary stages, Coquitlam RCMP authorities are urging potential witnesses or individuals possessing dash-cam, surveillance, or cellphone footage captured between 10:30 p.m. on February 11, 2024, and 12:30 a.m. on February 12, 2024, to come forward and assist with the ongoing inquiries.

The Coquitlam RCMP General Investigations Section (GIS) has assumed the case. Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with pertinent information or visual evidence about the incident. Those with relevant details are encouraged to contact investigators by contacting the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550, quoting Coquitlam File Number 2024-3605.

The Coquitlam RCMP emphasizes the importance of community cooperation in resolving this matter and bringing the responsible parties to justice.
