Two new cases of the presumptive Coronavirus have been confirmed in BC, taking the number of people affected by the virus to four.

The two affected people are said to be visiting from the Hubei province of China. The man and the woman are in the 30s, and were believed to be staying with BC’s second patient who was identified on February 4.

The second person who was tested positive on February 4 is a woman in her 50s, who lives in the Vancouver Coastal Health region.

All four remain in their home in isolation, and are being monitored by health authorities.

“One of these people is very likely the source for the case that we announced on Tuesday,” said Dr. Bonnie Henry, the provincial health officer.

“We ask anyone here in B.C. who has been in Hubei province to consider staying home and keeping their children home until 14 days have passed from their last visit to Hubei,” the government said.

“Our knowledge of 2019-nCoV continues to grow as new information becomes available. Across the country, federal, provincial and territorial governments are using this new evidence to inform and adjust our public health actions as circumstances develop globally,” the BC government said.
