Two residents die from COVID at Amica Lions Gate

Staff report
October 31, 2021 8:27am

Two residents have passed away in the COVID-19 outbreak at Amical Lions Gate facility in West Vancouver.

“Over the weekend, we were saddened to learn that two residents passed away after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier that week. They were both long-time residents who were an integral part of our community. They will be dearly missed,” the company said.

Amical Lions Gate remains in outbreak status and residents are isolating in their suites.

The company said it has numerous protocols in place to protect residents and team members including masking, screening, physical distancing and enhanced cleaning.

As an additional precaution, only essential visitors may visit at this time, and group dining and group activities are temporarily suspended.

“We are thankful that 100% of our residents and team members are fully vaccinated and that our residents received their COVID-19 booster doses last week,” the company said.

At this time, there are six active resident COVID-19 cases and three active staff members who have COVID-19.

Of these, some are experiencing mild symptoms and some have no symptoms. Six staff members have recovered.

Six residents and seven team members are also COVID-19 positive at the Amical Edgemont.

Some are experiencing mild symptoms, while others have no symptoms. All are fully vaccinated and continue to isolate.

One staff member has recovered.

All residents and team members have been vaccinated, and residents at Amica Edgemont have also received their COVID-19 booster shots on October 25.
