Two workers at the Amica Edgemont Village have tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, Amica said Vancouver Coastal Health notified them about the two team members on Thursday, April 16.

The first one is a housekeeper who last worked at Amica Edgemont on April 9. The second one is a maintenance worker who last worked on April 13, and tested positive the next day.

Both team members were wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while working, and the maintenance worker was not working on resident floors, Amica said.

Both are now recovering at home with pay.

As a precautionary measure, three more workers who may have come in contact with the positive workers have now been isolated for two weeks with pay.

To date, Amica has had six COVID-positive team members, two of whom have recovered. At this time, there are no confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 among residents.

Two residents of Amica Edgemont who were self-isolating together in their suite passed away on April 7.

Amica Edgmont said protection measures at the facility include masks and personal protective equipment for all workers who are in contact with isolated residents.

Other measures include enhanced cleaning, physical distancing, closed common areas, essential-visitor-only protocol and dedicated staffing.
