An overnight closure of Highway 1 is planned in the City of North Vancouver as construction continues on the Casano-Loutet Overpass, a project that will deliver a new pedestrian and cycling connection between the Loutet and Cedar Village areas by summer 2026.
In a press release, the City said that the temporary closure is necessary to install steel bridge supports over Highway 1 safely. The closure will affect the section of the highway between the Lonsdale Avenue interchange and the Main Street interchange.
The closure will take place on one evening in early February 2026, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., though the exact date has not yet been confirmed. A detour will be in place for all vehicles during the overnight closure.
The final closure date will be determined based on Ministry approvals and weather conditions, the press release noted. Once confirmed, updated information will be shared through the City’s Casano-Loutet Overpass project webpage and its regular social media channels.
Drivers are advised to check back for further details as the closure date is announced.
