Vancouver escort charged with manslaughter in alleged drugging case

October 13, 2022 10:50am

Surrey RCMP has laid several charges, including a manslaughter charge, against a Vancouver area sex worker for allegedly drugging men.

In September 2021, Surrey RCMP started an investigation after multiple reports of men being drugged and having their belongings stolen while utilizing an escort service.

In one of the incidents in February 2021, a man died, allegedly after being administered a substance during an encounter. The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit took conduct and identified a suspect who is alleged to have committed multiple offences in Surrey, Burnaby, Langley and Vancouver.

On September 20, 2022, 30-year-old Jessica Nicole Renee Kane of Vancouver was arrested. She has been charged with the following offences:

Manslaughter

Seven counts of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug or substance

Six counts of theft over $5000

One count of theft

Four counts of fraud

Two counts of extortion

Jessica Kane has been remanded into custody while she awaits her next court appearance.

Investigators believe there could be others in the community who may have information but are reluctant to come forward to police, says Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer, Corporal Vanessa Munn. “We are encouraging anyone with information to come forward and make a police report with the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
