Vancouver man gets six months in jail for North Vancouver break-ins

Staff report
April 25, 2024 2:41pm

A Vancouver man has received a six-month jail sentence following a successful investigation by North Vancouver RCMP.

Between March and June 2023, North Vancouver RCMP responded to multiple reports of break-ins and thefts from neighborhoods across North Vancouver. On March 6th, 2023, North Vancouver RCMP responded to reports of a break-in to an underground parking lot of a residential building. Several vehicles were broken into. A suspect was identified through CCTV obtained from the building.

On May 2nd, 2023, police responded to a report of a break-in at a business in Edgemont Village. They quickly arrived and arrested a suspect nearby who matched the description and had several iPads stolen from the business. On June 19, 2023, police also responded to a suspicious male in the parking lot of a dealership on Marine Drive in North Vancouver. Police quickly responded and located several broken-in vehicles. A suspect was arrested nearby for theft in relation to the broken-in vehicles.

Front-line officers worked diligently to gather evidence and submitted a report to the BC Prosecution Service recommending charges of two counts of break-and-enter and one count of Theft under $5,000.

On April 18th, 2024, Cole Lambert from Vancouver was found guilty, sentenced to six months in jail, and given credit for 69 days of pre-sentence time in custody.

“We hope this sort of outcome sends a message to criminals that police do not tolerate anyone who victimizes businesses and destroys property,” said Cst. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP. “Our highly trained investigators and front-line officers will continue to pursue criminals leaving no stone unturned tirelessly.”
