Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) donated eight units of blood in Vancouver on Feb. 3, supporting Canadians in critical need as part of a nationwide blood donation campaign.
According to the press release, the blood drive took place at Canadian Blood Services located at Unit C2, 15285-101 Avenue, Surrey, BC, and forms part of an ongoing effort by the AMYA to serve Canadians and demonstrate the true spirit of Islam.
The Vancouver event is one stop in a sweeping national initiative through which Muslim youth will donate blood in various locations across Canada. The AMYA has set a target of 1,000 blood donations this year, aimed at helping meet the unrelenting demand for blood across Canadian health institutions.
The press release noted that blood drives are only one pillar of AMYA’s community outreach. Each year, the organization hosts charity runs in cities and towns across Canada, including the Run for Delta in Vancouver, raising funds for local health organizations, food banks, and other humanitarian causes, the press release further added.
