Vancouver ticket wins $6 million jackpot

Staff report
March 17, 2022 10:34am

A Lotto 6/49 ticket purchased in Vancouver for last night’s draw scored an incredible $6-million prize. The ticket was the only one purchased across Canada to match all six winning numbers: 1, 3, 8, 14, 15, and 16.

It’s the second time in one week a ticket purchased in the Lower Mainland has landed the jackpot.  An uncle and nephew John and Travis Bonner purchased the winning ticket from the March 9 Lotto 6/49 draw, netting them a cool $8 million.

In addition to the jackpot, a ticket purchased in Nanaimo for last night’s draw matched 4/4 numbers to win the top Extra prize of $500,000.

The odds of winning a Lotto 6/49 jackpot are 1 in 13,983,816. The odds of matching 4/4 on the Extra are 1 in 3,764,376.

The specific retail location for where the winning lottery ticket was purchased, and the name of winner will be announced after the winner has come forward to claim their prize. All lottery prize winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on their ticket to come forward to claim their prize.
