Vehicle day-use passes will be required to access Mount Seymour Park during the 2025–26 winter season, beginning Friday, Dec. 19, according to BC Parks. The reservation system will be in place daily through Jan. 4, 2026, and then on weekends and holidays until March 29, 2026.
In a press release, BC Parks said the passes are required only for vehicles and are not needed after 4 p.m. Skiers and riders with valid Mount Seymour Resort passes are exempt from the provincial day-use permit. Reservations will open at 7 a.m. two days before a planned visit and must be booked online through the BC Parks Day-Use Pass system. Visitors are encouraged to cancel unused passes to free up space for others.
Mount Seymour Park attracts nearly 1 million visitors each year and is a popular destination for skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, and tobogganing. The limited number of day-use passes is intended to improve visitor safety and reduce congestion during peak winter conditions, BC Parks said.
According to BC Parks, park staff will be stationed on-site to check passes and provide safety information to visitors. Because cell service can be unreliable in the area, visitors are advised to carry a printed pass or a screenshot of their QR code before arriving.
The Day-Use Pass Program was introduced in 2020 as part of broader traffic and crowd management efforts in the North Shore mountains. BC Parks says the program helps protect sensitive ecosystems, supports Indigenous cultural values, and ensures safe recreation in some of B.C.’s most heavily visited parks.
Mount Seymour is one of several provincial parks where daily visitor limits and access controls have become part of winter operations, as demand for outdoor recreation continues to grow across the region.
