Vehicle passes will be required to access Mount Seymour Provincial Park

Those who have a valid ski pass to Mount Seymour Resort do not require a pass
Staff report

Vehicle passes will again be required to access Mount Seymour Provincial Park.

Beginning Dec. 15, free vehicle day-use passes will be required between 7 am and 4 pm to access the upper mountain parking lots (P1 and Lower P5).

Passes are available to download and print at: reserve.bcparks.ca/dayuse/ and can be booked two days in advance of the planned visit. People can choose between a morning (7 a.m. to noon) or afternoon (noon to 4 p.m.) vehicle pass, or book both a morning and an afternoon pass if they want to stay all day.

However, those who have a valid ski pass to Mount Seymour Resort do not require a day-use pass.

Since cellphone service may be limited, people will need to print or download a copy of the vehicle pass onto their mobile device before arriving at the park.

In 2020, more than 1.1 million people visited the park – a 20% increase since 2018, resulting in limited parking spots, as well as congested roads and facilities. “The free vehicle passes are part of a comprehensive strategy to protect nature and improve access to popular provincial parks and trails,” says BC Parks.

So how do you address the issue of those that don’t have either a cellphone or access to the internet?
