On Friday, Chief Constable Len Goerke will retire, after leading the West Vancouver Police for the past six-and-a-half years and after 34 years in policing.
“I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve the communities of both West Vancouver and Xwemelch’stn Uxwumixw and I am retiring from policing knowing that the staff and leadership at the WVPD are prepared to provide the highest level of service into the future,” says Goerke.

“Policing is a vocation; the passionate staff who make up the West Vancouver Police are dedicated to healthy and safe communities for all and an equitable bias free policing service for every person. They will no doubt continue to strive and thrive well after I am gone. Thank you to the communities we serve for your support, guidance and counsel,” says Goerke.
West Vancouver Police wish Chief Goerke all the best in the next chapter of his life and are thankful for his dedicated leadership and service.
Chief Constable Goerke joined the West Vancouver Police Department in August of 2014 after a 27-year career with the Abbotsford Police Department leaving as Deputy Chief Constable.
Chief Constable Goerke completed the Executive Development Program at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Fraser Valley, as well as a Master of Arts degree from Royal Roads University.
Raised in the Lower Mainland, Chief Constable Goerke has lived in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley for most of his life. He is a Rotarian and active volunteer in his community currently volunteering on the Board of Directors for the Restorative Justice Association of BC, as well as the Klahanee Park Housing Society, and the Capilano Senior Citizens Housing Society.
Chief Constable Goerke is a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and is a Member of the Order of Merit of Police Forces.
