West Van council appoints new CAO

STAFF REPORT
May 26, 2020 12:54pm

West Vancouver council has appointed Robert Bartlett as the new Chief Administrative Officer.

Robert will take on the role after the former CAO, Nina Leemhuis, retires in June.

Robert Bartlett comes to West Vancouver from the City of Vancouver, where he was Chief Risk Officer & Director of Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity & Compliance.

His background includes 20 years of experience at all levels in the public sector.

He has had senior leadership positions with the City of Vancouver, and also led the NATO file on behalf of the UK Government, while being the chair of a non-profit organization for the past 6 years.

“Council and I were looking for an innovative leader, strategic thinker, and superior relationship builder with exceptional financial and administrative skills, and strong business acumen,” says Mayor Mary-Ann Booth.

“We are confident that Robert’s skills, knowledge and experience will prove valuable in this new role, and build on the good governance, professional staff capabilities, solid financial and asset management program, and high-quality of customer service established under the leadership of Ms. Leemhuis over the last seven years.

Robert is a big fan of the outdoors, a soccer player and a keen road biker who has completed the Whistler Grand Fondo twice. During the winter, he is an avid snowboarder.

Sooooo glad to see Nina Leemhuis go because she is solely responsible for perpetrating discrimination and blocking against West Vancouver citizens who are upset with the actions and lack of actions of West Vancouver’s past mayors and councils.

She should have been dismissed years ago, but, unfortunately, unions protect the worst as well as the best employees.

Hopefully, a modern, non-discriminatory, transparent, less elitist, and more democratic approach will be applied to citizens who wish to make complaints to city hall. There are many of us citizens who have suffered decades of what we feel is neglect by city hall, and we are not happy about it and being shut out by having our emails and lines of communication to city hall blocked by NINA LEEMHUIS. Good riddance to her! Thankfully, some WV city council members are enlightened and open to criticism, whereas she is not.
