The District of West Vancouver has extended the $2.50/hour seasonal parking rate at Ambleside Park through the end of 2026 as park users adjust to the new pay parking program.
Staff report

The District of West Vancouver will maintain the $2.50/hour seasonal parking rate — taxes included — at Ambleside Park through the end of 2026, while rates at other District parks with pay parking remain unchanged.

In a press release, the District said Council has heard community feedback and recognizes Ambleside Park as a unique, high-traffic destination serving a wide variety of user groups and stakeholders — and that people need time to adapt to pay parking.

The decision came from a special closed Council meeting on February 19, where Council directed staff to hold the lower seasonal rate while monitoring the program’s impacts and collecting data. According to the press release, the $2.50/hour rate was first introduced in November 2025 following stakeholder feedback.

Council has also directed staff to convene a roundtable with select stakeholders to review existing feedback, gather additional input, and report back with findings to help guide future decisions. The press release noted that staff will present a summary to Council to inform next steps.

West Vancouver residents are eligible for a free annual parking pass and can apply at impark.com/westvan.
