West Van police arrest 33 people, seize drugs and weapons in waterfront sweep

Staff Report
November 17, 2025 4:09pm

The West Vancouver Police Department has arrested 33 people and seized drugs, weapons, and about $20,000 in stolen property during a months-long operation targeting crime along the community’s waterfront.

According to a WVPD social media post, the Waterfront Crime Reduction Project ran from July to October. It focused on high-risk individuals and key areas stretching from the Capilano River and Park Royal to Ambleside, Dundarave, and Horseshoe Bay.

The initiative was led by the department’s Investigative Support Team (IST) and funded through the B.C. government’s Specialized Investigations and Targeted Enforcement (SITE) Program.

Uniformed and plainclothes officers worked together to address serious incidents such as domestic violence, weapons offences, public disturbances, assaults, drug-related activity, and mental health crises. During the four-month project, the IST generated or assisted with more than 165 new files, executed warrants, seized illegal substances and weapons, and recovered stolen goods valued at roughly $20,000.

In its post, the WVPD said the project reinforced the department’s focus on disrupting offenders and reducing violent crime. Although the SITE-funded initiative has concluded, police say they will maintain an active presence along the waterfront to strengthen relationships with residents and ensure public spaces remain safe and welcoming.

“The goal is to keep West Vancouver’s beaches and public areas safe and comfortable for everyone to enjoy,” the department stated.

Well, done West Vancouver police!! The only cops around that seem to be doing their job unlike in Toronto, where the RCMP shut down a Canadian who was playing the Canadian national anthem from a speaker protesting flags Palestinian flags being flown in Toronto. Canada is a dumpster fire right now, so kudos to West Vancouver police for doing their job!

They’re an outstanding police force. Drop off christmas cards, letters of appreciation or donations at the municipal office on 16th. Anything to show our appreciation.

Really? One time they confronted me mid-day with two big undercover suvs lights flashing while walking west on Marine drive after buying some plants at Fresh Street and walking home with them. Never felt safer.
