West Van SPCA seeks help for pug who needs eye surgery

May 27, 2019 11:07am

The BC SPCA’s West Vancouver Branch is asking members of the public to help Ziggy, a young pug who needs eye surgery.

Ziggy is a stray who came to the SPCA with a damaged eye, an ear infection and in need of dental surgery for an overcrowded mouth that makes it difficult for him to eat. This little dog is only a year old and has lived a difficult life up to this point. He was found in Duncan and taken to the Nanaimo & District SPCA then transferred to West Vancouver for extensive care.

“Ziggy is great with other animals and seems to enjoy company of kids and all people he meets on his journey,” says West Vancouver SPCA branch manager Charlotte Ellice. “He has clearly been through a lot in his short lifetime.”

Ziggy’s overall care is expected to cost about $2,320. He is on medication to treat his ear infection and has his surgery booked to remove his unseeing eye, which is causing him pain. This adorable fellow will need at least a month to recover from his surgery before he’s ready to be adopted.

If you can help Ziggy and other animals in need at the West Vancouver SPCA, please visit spca.bc.ca/medicalemergency or visit the branch at 1020 Marine Drive, West Vancouver 604-922-4622.
