West Van to allow liquor consumption in more district parks

Staff report
April 12, 2022 3:53pm

District of West Vancouver will allow liquor consumption in three more parks in the district. Alcohol consumption is now allowed in certain areas of Ambleside Landing,  John Lawson Park and Dundarave Park, excluding the playground.

The council had allowed liquor consumption in Millennium Park in 2021.  Alcohol may be consumed in designated areas from noon to dusk, seven days a week.

Here are the designated area for Ambleside Landing, for Dundarave Park, and for John Lawson Park East and West.

In March this year, council voted unanimously to amend the bylaw to allow liquor consumption in additional parks in the district. This will help achieve council’s strategic goal to ‘create vital and vibrant commercial centres’ by collaborating with the local business community, district said.

In June 2021, the District implemented a pilot project to allow for consumption of liquor in Millennium Park as a response to increased public interest.
