West Vancouver was one among several municipalities in BC that broke daily maximum temperature records on Sunday with sweltering hot weather.
A strong ridge of high pressure pushed into southern BC on Sunday, with several stations across the province breaking daily maximum temperature records.
The West Vancouver station set a record at 33.4 C for the daily maximum since Environment Canada started keeping records in 1977.
The old record was 30.5 C, which was set in 1977.
Lytton Area was the hottest in the province with a new record of 41.2 C. Records have been kept for Lytton since 1921. The old record for Lytton for 40.4 C was set in 2008.
Other hotspots in the Province that shattered records were the Cache Creek Area at 39.8 C, Merritt area at 38 C, Penticton at 36.5 C, and Summerland at 36.8 C.
New records were also set in Squamish and White Rock as well as Hope.
The next few days will be a mix of sun and clouds, with rain starting on Thursday.
