The District of West Vancouver proposes to replace an underused bike terrain park and skateboard bowl at Gleneagles Adventure Park with four new pickleball courts and a paved pump track. West Vancouver is seeking community consultation on the project.

The site, located just north of the Gleneagles Community Centre, was initially designed as a youth-focused facility in 2005. But district staff say it hasn’t seen consistent use in recent years. “Anecdotal observations indicate that these facilities have not attracted consistent and sustained use,” a staff report notes.

If approved, the plan would add the first dedicated pickleball courts for residents living in the western part of the municipality, where local access to the sport has been limited, the district says. A paved pump track—a looping circuit of rollers and banked turns for bikes, skateboards, scooters, and rollerblades—would replace the existing dirt bike terrain park.

Staff describe the proposed redesign as a shift toward “a vibrant, multigenerational recreation hub” accessible to a broader range of users. “Adding both a paved pump track and pickleball courts would transform an underutilized space,” the report says. The proposal is still in the early stages. The District is soliciting public feedback through an online survey open until April 11, and two open house events are planned for April 3 and April 5. A final recommendation will be presented to the Council later this spring.

A petition launched by local resident, Ryan Taylor, to oppose the proposal has gained over 5,000 signatures.
