West Vancouver Police conducted traffic enforcement last weekend, issuing violation tickets and turning away vehicles with inadequate tires for mountain driving conditions.

West Vancouver Police were out in force last weekend, conducting traffic enforcement and winter safety checks across local roads.

In a social media post, the West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) reported significant enforcement activity aimed at keeping drivers and the public safe on area roadways. Officers pulled over three drivers travelling between 40 and 75 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Police officers issued a total of 60 violation tickets covering a range of offences, including speeding, inadequate tires, no insurance, driving without consideration, and following too closely. One prohibited driver was also removed from the road, and three Notice and Orders were issued for vehicle safety deficiencies.

Winter road conditions also played a major role in the weekend’s operations. Several vehicles were turned around for having inadequate tires, which is a critical concern as mountain roads remain snow-covered despite milder temperatures closer to the coast.

Police caution that drivers heading into the mountains still face wintery conditions and are legally required to have proper tires. Police are urging drivers to slow down, prepare for reduced visibility, and leave extra following distance between their vehicle and the one ahead.
