West Vancouver Police say they have stepped up enforcement this summer in busy waterfront areas as part of a crime reduction project aimed at improving public safety.
In a social media post, West Vancouver police said the “West Vancouver Waterfront Crime Reduction Project – 2025” is being carried out by the department’s Investigative Support Team with funding from the provincial government’s SITE Program. The initiative focuses on high-risk individuals and key locations to reduce violent crime and community disturbances.
According to police, the project has already led to arrests of individuals with extensive criminal histories, as well as interventions in cases involving domestic violence, drug and weapons offences, serious assaults, and public disturbances. Officers have also conducted mental health apprehensions and recovered more than $12,000 in stolen property.
The department said officers will continue using both uniformed patrols and covert strategies throughout August and into the fall to keep West Vancouver’s waterfront a safe and welcoming place for residents and visitors.
