In a press release, the West Vancouver Police Department said it has released a new composite photograph in hopes of generating fresh information in the case.
The man was discovered on May 4, 1999, inside a green tent southeast of Eagle Lake, also known as Dick Lake. Investigators believe he had been living in the tent and likely died sometime in 1998.
The post noted that the man was approximately 5’6” tall and weighed about 150 pounds. He had short grey hair and distinctive teeth, and was estimated to be between 40 and 70 years old at the time of his death. Reading glasses, a hammock, and other personal belongings were found at the site, suggesting he had been staying in the area for some time.
“While it has been some time since this gentleman passed away, we are hoping this new composite photograph will help jog the memory of someone who remembers him,” said Suzanne Birch, spokesperson for the West Vancouver Police Department. “We would very much like to find out who he is, and, if possible, provide some measure of comfort to family and friends who may be missing him.”
According to the police’s post, photographs of the man’s personal effects have also been released to support identification efforts.
