West Vancouver police seek owner of stolen Christmas gifts

Staff report
December 15, 2021 9:42am

West Vancouver police are seeking the owners of gifts that were found in the hands of a suspected thief. The suspect, a 31-year-old man from West Vancouver, is well-known to police.

On December 12 at 2:20 am, police received a report of a man seen checking door handles on parked vehicles in the 1800 block of Bellevue Ave.

Officers attended the area and quickly located the suspect walking on the Seawall nearby. He was arrested and found in possession of suspected stolen property, including two gift baskets, multiple pairs of designer sunglasses, and other new items.

Police were unable to identify any owners of the items and the man was released without charges, pending further investigation.

“We would really like to get these items back to the rightful owners,” said Cst Kevin Goodmurphy. “Someone is likely missing them as they appear to be Christmas gifts.”

Anyone with information that may help with this investigation is asked to call West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300. Police file #21-14070.
