West Vancouver police are asking for the public’s help after a pick-up truck struck three parked vehicles on Bellevue Avenue before the driver fled and abandoned the damaged vehicle.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 in the 1800 and 1900 blocks of Bellevue Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing the truck continue westbound after the collisions. With tips from the public, officers later found the vehicle unoccupied in an alley behind the West Vancouver Memorial Library, in the 2000 block of Marine Drive.
Police say the vehicle was a dark blue 2007 Toyota Tacoma with significant damage to the front passenger side above the wheel. The driver is described as a heavier-set, balding Caucasian man.
“We are particularly interested to hear from the public if they can provide a description or have any other relevant details regarding the driver of the vehicle,” said Sgt. Chris Bigland. “This includes observations from when he hit the cars on Bellevue or when he exited his vehicle behind the library.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the driver abandon the truck, or has dashcam footage is asked to contact West Vancouver police at 604-925-7300.
