Do you have a snow shovel and a desire to help your neighbours? Or do you have mobility challenges and would appreciate some help clearing snow this winter season?
West Vancouver’s Snow Angels Program connects volunteers with individuals who have mobility challenges to help clear pathways and sidewalks following a snowfall.
Residents who are unable to clear their sidewalks and pathways themselves, or with the help of neighbours or a snow removal service, can request a Snow Angel volunteer.
All residents are obligated to clear the sidewalks around their homes or businesses and can receive a ticket for failing to clear snow and ice within 24 hours of a snowfall, as required by the Traffic and Parking Bylaw.
Heavy snowfall can cause challenges for some residents—particularly elderly citizens and residents with illnesses, disabilities, or mobility challenges.
By clearing pathways and sidewalks, Snow Angels are helping residents to safely leave their homes following a snowfall and contribute to making West Vancouver a liveable, vibrant, and inclusive community.
Snow Angels will be matched with residents for the winter season, and whenever possible, will be assigned to individuals in their local area. Salt will be provided to aid in their efforts.
To volunteer as a Snow Angel or to request to receive their services, call Volunteer Services at 604-925-7288 or send an email to snowangels@westvancouver.ca.
