Witnesses sought after elderly women struck by vehicle in Ambleside

Staff report
January 19, 2022 5:41pm

Investigators are seeking witnesses after a serious incident involving a pedestrian and a truck. The incident happened today at approximately 1:25 pm at the intersection of 13th St. and Bellevue Avenue.

When officers arrived, they learned that a 71-year-old female had been struck by a pickup truck while crossing 13th at a marked crosswalk. The woman suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital by BC Ambulance.

The driver, a male in his 50s, remained on scene.

The area of 13th and Bellevue Ave was closed to traffic for hours as the Integrated Collision analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) took control of the scene.

“This is a tragic incident”, says Cst. Nicole Braithwaite.

“If you have any information please come forward. We need all available evidence to help us with this investigation. That includes any dashcam footage that may have captured the moments leading up to the incident.”

The investigation is ongoing.

If anyone has information, they are asked to call the West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300 regarding police file 22-587.
