Woman, child dead in Lower Lonsdale incident in North Vancouver; IHIT called

North Vancouver RCMP is on scene following an incident at an apartment in the Lower Lonsdale.

On August 20, 2024, at 4:30 a.m., North Vancouver RCMP responded to reports of two females who had fallen off of a balcony at an apartment complex in the 100 block of East Esplanade Ave.

Officers arrived and located a woman and a school-aged child suffering from injuries sustained from the fall. First responders, including fire and BC Ambulance Service, immediately began lifesaving measures. However, the two were pronounced deceased.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will work with the North Vancouver RCMP Serious Crime Unit. Police are currently in the evidence-gathering phase; IHIT will provide further information.
