The North Vancouver Museum and Archives Commission announced today that it has appointed Zoe Mackoff de Miranda as Director of MONOVA: Museum and Archives of North Vancouver.

She will officially join the MONOVA team on 1 May 2023.

Born and raised in North Vancouver, Zoe is deeply committed to community building, arts and culture, diplomacy and inclusion, and authentic relationship building, MONOVA said in a press release. Zoe has a BA in Art History from the University of Victoria and a MFA from the Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, UK. Over 15 Years of Leadership Experience Zoe has spent the last 15 years working in the arts, culture and technology sectors, in both the for-profit and non-profit worlds.

Most recently, she was the Director of Business Development at the Vancouver Art Gallery, where she focused on strategic planning and revenue generation.

“I’m thrilled to be joining MONOVA at such an exciting time. With a new purpose-built museum in the heart of The Shipyards, and the rich archives in a beautiful heritage building in Lynn Valley, MONOVA is well positioned to be an inspirational and transformative community hub,” said Zoe Mackoff de Miranda. “I look forward to working closely with Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl ̓ ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations and the municipal partners at the City and District of North Vancouver to lead a diverse and inclusive organization where the stories of North Vancouver’s people, places and past come to life.

An Entrepreneurial Community Builder

“We’re delighted to welcome Zoe Mackoff de Miranda to the MONOVA team,” added NVMA Commission Chair Dee Dhaliwal. “Zoe is entrepreneurial and an instinctive community builder with deep roots in North Vancouver. I’m looking forward to seeing the impact she will make, and supporting her to engage, strengthen and inspire our community by exploring the past, present and future of North Vancouver and its people.”

“One of the best parts of being in executive search is seeing the emergence of new leaders,” noted Menon Dwarka, Senior Vice President of Arts Consulting Group. “Mackoff de Miranda’s entrepreneurial drive, her boundless energy, and her deep community ties will not only serve MONOVA, but her leadership will be a welcome addition to Canada’s cultural landscape.”
