COVID-19 cases continue to creep up on North Shore.
From August 8 to 14, there were 64 new cases reported on the North Shore.
There were 51 new cases reported in the area, according to the latest weekly data issued by the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control.
Of these, 12 new cases were reported in West Vancouver, and 39 new cases in North Vancouver.
COVID-19 cases on North Shore have been rising for the last few weeks, mirroring a province-wide trend.
Last week, there were 29 cases reported on North Shore, and 23 in the week before.
The province is appealing to people to get vaccinated, as unvaccinated people are at significantly greater risk of severe outcomes.
According to the Government of BC, less than 5 per cent of all reported cases in BC are among fully vaccinated people.
Between June 15 and July 15, there were 68 cases of COVID-19 reported in fully vaccinated people. Eight were hospitalised and one person passed away.
In the same month, there were 15 deaths in those who were unvaccinated, and 137 were hospitalized.
