RCMP issued a 90-day roadside prohibition to a drunk driver who was involved in a rollover crash on Highway 99.
On December 10, police received a report of a car rollover in the 52000 block of Highway 99. Police, Emergency Health Services, and Fire Rescue responded to the accident. The driver suffered minor injuries, though the car was damaged extensively.
The driver later told the police she had four drinks before she started driving. She failed roadside sobriety tests, and was issued three month roadside prohibition.
Her car was impounded for 90 days under the Motor Vehicle Act.
“Most crashes are preventable if we prepare and plan ahead for the conditions we will face,” says Louise Yako, spokesperson for the Alliance’s annual Shift into Winter campaign.
“Slowing down to match road conditions can save your life, the lives of people travelling with you, and the lives of others using the road, including pedestrians,” she says. “And that would be the best gift you could give anyone.”
