Capilano University (CapU) has launched a new two-year Interaction Design diploma. The program connects design and technology to prepare students for a career in in-demand fields.

“Future technology is fast advancing, and the best technology is designed to serve its users,” says Ramin Shadmehr, dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts. “CapU’s Interaction Design diploma trains students to do exactly that—design technology that serves the users.”

Students will learn in a project-based, hands-on experiential environment. The program focuses on areas such as user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design, user research, visual design, motion design, coding, branding and web and app design. The program will also introduce students to working with new technologies and managing digital environments and workflows. Graduates of the program will gain skills to go on to careers such as UX/UI designers, content strategists and web/app designers to meet a growing demand for these roles in the workforce.

After completion of the diploma, students can apply for the third year of CapU’s Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication degree program which includes an eight-week industry practicum to help students transition into their new careers.

Applications for fall 2023 enrolment are open and interested students can apply now.
