Crown Counsel has approved a charge after Vancouver Police arrested a man who allegedly wielded a chainsaw at people in the West End.
According to the news release, the incident happened near Davie and Denman streets on the night of July 8 at approximately 7:00 p.m. The man was yelling obscenities near a coffee shop patio when he allegedly turned on an electric chainsaw and began walking toward people, according to the news release.

Bystanders ran away, and no one was injured. Vancouver Police officers arrested the man at Beach Avenue and Burnaby Street within three minutes of receiving the 911 call, according to the news release.
David Meadows, 67, has been charged with one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
