Community advocate Alexis Chicoine has announced her candidacy for West Vancouver Council in the 2026 municipal election, according to the news release.
Chicoine, who first ran for Council in 2022, has remained active in community affairs since then and received the District of West Vancouver Community Commitment Award in 2023 for her volunteer service, according to the news release by Chicoine.
“I’ve spent years listening to residents, serving on community committees, and working to bring people together to solve problems,” Chicoine said. “I’m running because I believe West Vancouver can preserve what makes it special while also preparing thoughtfully for the future.”
Professionally, Chicoine has spent more than two decades working with organizations and local governments on community planning, public engagement and inclusive design, focusing on creating spaces, services and policies that work well for everyone. She has also served on numerous municipal advisory committees and community organizations.
Chicoine’s platform is guided by the principles of listening first, planning thoughtfully and working together, according to the news release. It is organized around three interconnected focus areas: unlocking public land for community benefit, championing great community design, and supporting a community for every stage of life.
“Every decision Council makes is connected,” Chicoine said. “Whether we’re talking about housing, transportation, parks, public spaces, infrastructure, finances, or community services, each may progress at its own pace, but every decision should consider how these issues work together. My goal is to balance community character, financial stewardship, environmental sustainability, and accessibility—not as competing priorities, but as connected principles that guide every Council decision and help ensure today’s choices continue to serve West Vancouver well into the future.”
