People interested in running for mayor, councillor or school trustee in the City of North Vancouver’s 2026 General Local Election can submit their nomination papers beginning Sept. 1.
According to the news release issued by CNV, the nomination period runs from Tuesday, Sept. 1, to Friday, Sept. 11, 2026. Completed nomination papers must be submitted by 4 p.m. on Sept. 11.
Candidate nomination packages, which contain the official forms and information required to run, are available online at cnv.org/Candidates or in person at City Hall, 141 West 14th Street.
According to the news release, nomination papers can be submitted in person at City Hall, by mail, fax at 604-990-4202, or email to elections@cnv.org. In-person submissions are accepted by Sept. 11 at 4 p.m., excluding weekends and statutory holidays. Appointments are recommended and can be scheduled through the Election Office at elections@cnv.org or 604-220-1361.
To be eligible, candidates must have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six months immediately before filing their nomination papers, be at least 18 years old on General Voting Day on Oct. 17, 2026, be a Canadian citizen, and not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or other law. According to the news release, candidates must also be nominated by at least two qualified City of North Vancouver electors.
