The City of North Vancouver celebrated the official ribbon-cutting and key handover for the new Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre on Aug. 22, marking the completion of the replacement facility.

According to the social media post of the City of North Vancouver, the new centre replaces the original Silver Harbour facility. The new building is designed to provide an accessible space for connection, creativity, wellness and community activities.

The centre serves adults aged 55 and older and is home to more than 70 programs and services, including woodworking, pottery, choir and exercise classes, according to the news release.

According to the post, the new state-of-the-art facility offers a variety of activities and amenities and is intended to be accessible, welcoming and inclusive.

The construction timeline for the new Silver Harbour facility was aligned with the development of the new Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre to improve efficiencies and minimize costs. Updates on when the centre will open to the public will be posted by Silver Harbour Seniors’ Activity Centre.
