Construction is underway on a new active transportation corridor that will connect West Grand Boulevard to the Crosscut Bridge, giving North Vancouver residents a continuous, accessible route through the east side of the city.
The Eastside Connector will run along two corridors — West Grand Boulevard from East 19th Street to East Keith Road, and East 17th Street from West Grand Boulevard to the Crosscut Bridge at the north end of Loutet Park. Works include bike lane upgrades, a new multi-use path, a new neighbourhood bikeway, and improved intersections, lighting and wayfinding signage. Two new coordinated traffic signals at 13th and 15th Streets on East Grand Boulevard will also improve traffic flow for drivers.

Work is currently underway around Loutet Park and along West Grand Boulevard between 9th and 13th Streets. In the coming weeks, construction will extend to other segments of West Grand Boulevard, with new signals on East Grand Boulevard and electrical work on East 17th Street between Grand Boulevard and Loutet Park.
According to the news release, the city expects minor construction impacts, including temporary parking restrictions, removal of some boulevard plants, and driving lane restrictions on West Grand Boulevard. No trees will be removed. Residents and businesses in affected areas will receive advance notice of local impacts, and on-site signage will mark construction zones.
Construction is expected to wrap up by September 2026, weather permitting. According to the news release, the Eastside Connector is part of a coordinated effort with the District of North Vancouver tied to the opening of the Crosscut Bridge, scheduled for summer 2026.
Together with the District’s Kirkstone Park cycling route, the projects are designed to offer a comfortable alternative to Lynn Valley Road for people travelling between Sutherland Secondary School, city employment hubs, and Lynn Valley Town Centre.
