The City of North Vancouver is beginning construction of a new childcare centre and fieldhouse in Mahon Park. This facility will include a childcare centre, public washrooms, and bookable changerooms, ready for use in early 2025.
The new childcare centre will support 37 infants, toddlers and preschoolers and will be operated by the YMCA once open. This initiative is part of the City’s Child Care Action Plan that aims to create 1,000+ new licensed childcare spaces in the community by 2031.
The new fieldhouse will include six individual public washrooms, including two that are universally accessible, and two bookable team changerooms, each with three showers and a toilet. This fieldhouse will replace the existing washroom facility that has reached the end of its lifespan. This building is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure upgrades that enhance livability.
