COVID-19 alert for Shoppers Drug Mart in West Vancouver

Staff report
January 17, 2021 3:02pm

Loblaws has issued a new notification about a staff member testing positive at the Shoppers Drug Mart at 2490 Marine Drive in West Vancouver.

The notification was issued yesterday.

“The team member tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. The last day the team member worked was on January 9,” Loblaws announced today.

Loblaws had earlier issued a notification about an employee testing positive for COVID-19 in November.

“We are committed to being transparent with our colleagues and our customers, and have all of our cases listed on our corporate website,” the company said.

As many as 454 people in West Vancouver and 1169 people in North Vancouver have tested positive between January and December 2020, according to the data released by British Columbia Centre for Disease Control.

Capilano Care Centre in West Vancouver was one of the worst-affected long-term care homes in the province, with as many as 26 residents losing their life to the disease.

On January 6, Rivera, the company that runs the centre said almost all residents of Capilano Care Centre have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
