District of West Vancouver has been informed that a person who was at the West Vancouver Aquatic Centre and West Vancouver Community Centre on Thursday, April 8 has tested positive for COVID-19.
Vancouver Coastal Health will follow up with the individual and anyone who has been a close contact.
The West Vancouver Aquatic Centre and West Vancouver Community Centre are open for registered programs.
The District has health protocols in place that include sanitizing program spaces at District facilities regularly throughout the day, and certain areas will receive an enhanced cleaning today.
Following the update on April 19 from the province extending the current Provincial Health Orders, a number of programs and services at community recreation facilities in West Vancouver will remain suspended, while a number of others will remain open.
The full list of closures and facilities that remain open can be seen here.
“If you have recently visited our parks and beaches during the gorgeous weather, the third wave is, unfortunately, very reminiscent of the first wave, with crowds and disruptive behaviour,” said West Vancouver Mayor Mary-Ann Booth.
“Our police department and staff are already working hard to enforce bylaws and manage our public spaces, and it is still very important that we all continue to follow the recommendations of Dr. Henry.”
