The surge in COVID-19 cases on North Shore continues. The latest weekly update , from Dec 19 to Dec 25, shows North Shore added 589 new cases.
As many as 452 cases are in North Vancouver and 137 cases in West Vancouver.
Last week, from December 12 to December 18, 356 new cases were reported. The explosion is largely driven by the Omicron variant.
The weekly update for North Shor is a stark contrast from the past few weeks when cases seemed to have stabilized.
There were 81 cases in the week from Nov 26 to Dec 10, and just 39 cases in the week prior to that. Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has also declared a COVID-19 outbreak in the British Columbia Psychosis Program located at UBC Hospital after four residents tested positive for COVID-19.
Outbreak precautions have been implemented and all group activities have been suspended. Visits to the West wing at UBC Hospital have been suspended until outbreak measures are lifted.
